Diwali Gift

Diwali round the corner and children at school and home come across celebration, sweets, gifts and goodies. Question from little curious people -what is Diwali, and I explain my 3yr old baby with- Ram ji after killing Rawan on Dashehra with Sita Mata comes back home to Ayodhya after 14 yrs and people there started celebrating Diwali and till now every year we celebrate this day and light diyas, do puja and give gifts to our loved ones…..the next question came up – “What will I get as my Diwali Gift “ J

Diwali gift – hmm. “What will you like to have as your gift shona”….”Mumma I want a scooter “– Deal!
So the gift for Abeer was final we were supposed to buy a scooter for him and a Toy Laptop was also confirmed as his gift this year.

“What will you give me as my Diwali gift dear?”  “ummmmm I will gift a Purse / wallet – a orange color wallet, and Papa I will gift you a new Belt! This  3yr old surprises me with his witty answers and his choice for gifts is wonderful too, as he knew I have a old wallet and papa wanted to buy a belt too.
A day before Diwali we three went for shopping for “Our” Diwali gifts at a bag store, Salesman directed us to the counter where wallets on kept on display…”Mumma I don’t like any orange purse here, take this Purple one”….Walla! it was a good  Baggit wallet that he picked for me…..Nice choice!  And Belt again was a good choice for Papa,it was  just that papa picked up the black color instead of brown which Abeer suggested.

“Abeer pay for the gifts now...” “I don’t have money – you pay “ hahahahaha  “ I will get my money bank box next time” hehehehe

Children are so sweet, sensitive, true, and so lovable, as we grow up we loose up these qualities to some extent, we start manipulating, and we get diplomatic on situations… we get fake!

Diwali came, Abeer got his gifts which were promised – he was very very happy!

God bless!

Super Heroes Fan

Watching his dad seeing Avengers, Spiderman, X-Men and similar Super hero oriented movies made my child a super hero freak when he was 2.8yr old.

At this age he got keen about asking what that super Hero’s name is, see he is saving people, who is that bad man etc…and his Angry Bird Fever turned into the Super Hero Fever.
He learned all the Super Heroes names of his interest– Thor, Hulk, Captain America (Avengers) etc other than Batman, Spiderman and was interested in Fantastic 4 and X-Men too…His interest shown  in the characters  lean him to learn their names, the way they stand – postures and what not.
His love for the characters was easily seen with his running in home with one hand out saying– “Superman – the man of steel” ; singing “Spiderman – Spiderman – here comes the Spiderman “ assuming he is holding a web and running. My knowledge about them being zero due to no interest – forced me to learn about them so that I can relate to him J
When asked – what would you like as your birthday gift for your 3rd Birthday, we got a reply – “I want Super Heroes figures “  and a cake shaped “Spiderman” – Now this was something which made me work on A Task as the market was out with characters like Angry Birds, BenTen, Pokemon, Chota Bheem etc .
Somehow my search for his most loved characters got fulfilled before his Birthday – and The precious smile with all 7 characters in hand and a big “yess” still becomes un-forgetful J

The day was celebrated with A Spider man Face shaped cake and the Super Heroes figures. The fever is still ON with his increasing knowledge about them ,though I find it difficult to match his needs for the character based things (due to unavailability of being less popular among children) I like his choice to think different – “Apart from crowd” in his choice of gifts, apparels  etc.

Dressing up like Dad

Family week in the school, kids being taught about family members, relations - family tree...kids learn fast and easiest way is to involve "fun" in learning and Fancy dress is the most fun event for kids when it works out with the theme being taught at school.

So this was it, the week got over with teaching about family, its members, sticking pictures of family members in the EVS book, coloring the pictures in the book...last but not the least was a message which came over from the School "dress your wards as one of your family member"

And the work started....first convincing a 3yr old for going to school dressed up as his favorite family member, then asking his choice - Answer " I wanna dress like Papa"....ok done, deal! Another task making him dress like one.

The day came, took out his smart clothing - a waist coat , shirt, and trousers. And to his surprise a readymade Turban, as we are from a Sikh family and turban adds to a smart dressing :p

Taking his early morning tantrums for getting ready for the school, I took out my Kajal pencil and my child being un-ware and showing as if I am applying  a crème to his face , I made mustache and beard on his face, made him wore his patka and graced up with is ready to go Turban :)
But, we made sure that he didn’t saw the mirror, else he would have got rid of his kajal made mustache and beard : o

He looked very cute - a little sardarji, got awarded, and appreciated for dressing up smartly

School takes us to a troll when ask for getting the little ones dressed, but the pride which kids take latter when role playing is great !

Fancy dress – Dressing up as Kans Mama

Fancy dress coming up and your mind starts joggle with ideas, I take them seriously as with this your child roll plays characters and enjoy a new identity J
School Notice: Dress up your ward for Janamashtami celebrations tomorrow …
One statement / entry in the school dairy can create night mares for some parents, Working parents tend to read notes from the school once they get back from office, and this adds to the day’s stress!

This time I received a note from the school, I told my 3.6yr old – Tomorrow, you have to dress as Krishna  in school, on this a series of question came up – “mummy why do I have to dress as Krishanji? What will I dress like in school? What do I have to do there dressed like that?”....and so on, He being aware of Krishan and Kans story shared his idea of becoming Kans – the bad man to the school J

It was surprising for me, as at this age he was sure he what he wanted to dress like Kans because all will dress like Krishna in the class!

My job started, he told me “ I want to wear devil horns too, as Kans was a bad man” – the light horns were fetched from our last visit to India Gate, where the vendors go to and fro with all sorts of kids toys :)

A day before I landed in the nearby market directly from office .The market was full of dresses for Krishna and Radha – probably no one wanted to become Kans, somehow I managed a bit dark color dress- dhoti and jacket with beaded work on it and matched it with a sword made up of card board. The work did not end here – once I came I was supposed to make jewellery, customized crown and belt for my little Kans Mama.

Next Morning, Abeer (my son) woke up excited to dress as the devil J and yes this is the outcome:
